How my first year is going...

Hello lovelies!

It is a little bit past mid-year now and I have completed all my assignments in time with only one more to go and then it’s just focusing on three exams of Contract, Criminal and Constitutional. Now my track history has not looked too good regarding examinations, however with exactly 6 weeks to go before my exams my revision has to be perfect!

I am going to talk to you guys about how I feel my year has gone so far, my next post will be on things I have learnt during my first year. And after that I will discuss revision techniques and how to prepare for exams so have a look at that if you need any help.

I have loved my first year at university. I have met so many new people and done things that's out of my comfort zone and I have gone out a lot more!

Law:

- I found the course as hard as I expected first year to be. Students that study law or are about to hear it all the time “Laws challenging...It’s very difficult..." And comparing it to other courses, it is much more difficult and required more time and effort but that to be expected when doing law. I know that second and third year will be much more challenging. So, I feel that the level of difficulty was proportionate to what I was expecting in first year.

Living in Halls:

-If you are going to go to university, live in halls. Do it. I have learnt so much more living in halls in the past year. I was in an all-girls flat, which has its benefits and disadvantages, for example: we never have to be self-conscious about appearances and looks between each other (not that you should be!)

- A further benefit would be that girls are a bit quieter than boys which even though I know this is rather stereotypical Is true in this sense. However, a disproven stereotype about girls which I have found out is that girls are not clean and neat!! Not all my flatmates were messy but the ones that where…. My god…okay I may be overreacting. I’m not saying that they lived in a complete hoarder house, but they were not far off.

-  Also on that point, sharing a kitchen with 6 other girls is such a mess, especially when they don’t bother cleaning ‘hard’ stuff like the oven or microwave after using it. Everyone wants to do the easy work like hoovering but you rarely see anyone scrub anything…one of my flatmates didn’t even use soap to wash her dishes!

Life experience:
-          Why is washing clothes such a chore? I was often too lazy to waste £10 on washing (whites and colours and then using the dryer) so I would just go out and buy clothes, which also was my excuse for buying clothes! Haha

-          My cooking skills have been amazing! Not to brag but this year I have been eating so healthily, my main ingredients have been asparagus, chicken and bell peppers. I never get anything frozen (partly because I don’t like defrosting). I copy simple recipes from the ‘Tasty’ page on Facebook. I will do a post on my favourite recipes for you to try especially if you’re tired after a lecture and just want to cook something quickly.

My next post will be on things I have learnt in my first year!
Love,
A  Law Student! Xx
